London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard (LLGS), founded in 1974, provides an information, support and referral service for LGBT people and anyone who needs to consider issues around their sexuality.

All volunteers identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual, so that the person answering the telephone has an understanding of the caller's situation. Volunteers don't judge or tell people what to do. They provide suitable support, offer appropriate information and discuss relevant options.

The telephone helpline operates from 10am to 11pm, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. The helpline number is 0300 330 0630.

They have recently extended their services to include instant messaging and email support. These, combined with their information database, provides four ways to offer help.

LLGS has built up a database of information about LGBT resources, known at the Turing Network.
