The Labour Party is a British political party. It was founded in 1900, and replaced the Liberal Party as the official opposition in 1922.There have been Labour governments as follows:
- 1924 (Ramsay MacDonald)
- 1929–31 (Ramsay MacDonald)
- 1945–51 (Clement Attlee)
- 1964–70 (Harold Wilson)
- 1974–79 (Harold Wilson; James Callaghan)
- 1997–2010 (Tony Blair; Gordon Brown)
- 2024- (Keir Starmer)

LGBT History
Labour governments have been responsible for a number of Acts of Parliament affecting LGBT people, notably:
- Sexual Offences Act 1967
- Repeal in 2000 of Section 28
- Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000
- Sexual Offences Act 2003
- Civil Partnership Act 2004
- Gender Recognition Act 2004
- Equality Act 2006
LGBT Labour is a society affiliated to the Labour Party. Lesbian Labour works for same sex attracted women in the Labour movement.
George Brinham was Chairman of the Labour Party from 1960 to 1961, and Ray Collins was General Secretary from 2008 to 2011.
