The "International Day Against Homophobia" was first celebrated in 2005. In 2009 the name was expanded to include "Transphobia".

The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) is held every year on the 17th of May, commemorating the day in 1990 when homosexuality was removed from the e World Health Organisation's International Classification of Diseases.[1]

The "International Day Against Homophobia" was first celebrated in 2005. In 2009 the name was expanded to include "Transphobia".
