'''The Silver Moon women's bookshop''' was founded in 1984 in Charing Cross Road, London, by [[Jane Cholmeley]] and her business partner [[Sue Butterworth]]. It stocked only books by women or books about women, with extensive coveralage of feminist and lesbian titles. The shop was also a resource centre for women's issues, and hosted author events by writers such as Margaret Atwood, Germaine Greer, Kate Millett and Beryl Bainbridge.
