'''Thanet''' is a local government district in [[Kent]], at the north-eastern corner of the county. It includes the seaside towns of [[Margate]], [[Ramsgate]], and [[Broadstairs]]. At one time ships could sail through the Wantsum channel separating the '''Isle of Thanet''' but this has silted up, and Thanet is no longer an island.
