Stanley Stokes

Stanley Stokes was a London solicitor. In May 1836 he made sexual approaches to a groom at the New Ship Hotel, Brighton and was mobbed and tarred and cut his own throat in East Street, Brighton, dying two days later.ref>http://www.brightonourstory.co.uk/brighton-s-history/ Brighton Ourstory</ref>
