Maldon is a seaside town and local government district in Essex. It is known for the Battle of Maldon in 991, recorded in a famous Anglo-Saxon poem, at which the English forces were defeated by the Vikings.

The politician and journalist Tom Driberg lived at Bradwell for many years.
