I want what I want

From LGBT History Project

I want what I want is the name of a novel (1966) by Geoff Brown about a boy who wants to be a girl, and a film (1972), based on the book, directed by John Dexter.

It is possibly partly based on the life of April Ashley. The film was one of the first to deal with transsexuality, although without using the current terminology.
