The Royal Borough of Greenwich and its 17 wards

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is an inner London Borough in south-east London, originally in Kent. It was formed in 1965 (as the London Borough of Greenwich) by merging the former metropolitan borough of Greenwich with most of Woolwich. It became a Royal Borough in 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Greenwich is notable for the magnisficent former Royal Naval College facing the river, plus the National Maritime Museum and the former Royal Observatory, which defines the Greenwich Meridian (0° longitude) and Greenwich Mean Time. The North Greenwich peninsula is the site of The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome).

The Metro Centre is a well-established lesbian and gay centre.

The George and Dragon is a local gay pub.
