Corfe Castle is a village in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, at the foot of the hill on which stands the castle ruins.
LGBT history
The composer Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji lived in seclusion in the village for many years.
Norman Notley and David Brynley moved to Corfe Castle, Dorset in 1923 and lived openly as a couple for nearly six decades.The two men – successful musicians who sang together in Britain and the United States – lived peacefully with the local community for 57 years until their deaths (see Dorset for reference).
