The movement towards marriage equality in Scotland has been proceeding somewhat in advance of that in England (See Marriage equality).
The Scottish Government held a consultation exercise starting on the 2nd of September 2011. The cosnultation closed on the 9th of December, and there were 50,000 responses.[1]
In Scotland the campaign for equal marriage is being organised by The Equality Network.[2]
