The Rockingham was a gay club in the basement of a warehouse in Queen Street, Manchester.[1]
- "It was Manchester's first GAY club, the owner Reg was a raving gay and Harry the doorman was a giant (a very nice one)."[2]
In 1968 there was a plan for Esquire Clubs to take over the Rockingham, but negotiations broke down when the Esquire Committee declined to pay the increased amount asked by the owner, Reg Kilduff, given that the lease had only three years to run.[3]
