The Gay Black Group was set up in 1981 and was London based. The group met on Friday evening at Gay's the Word bookshop. They had a striking scarlet banner which appeared at events such as Manchester's demonstration against State Oppression of Lesbian and Gay People on 28 February 1981 and Gay Pride march (see London Pride) 1981 in Huddersfield. One of their public speakers was Ahmed Farooqui [1].
