Catford is a locality and shopping centre within the London Borough of Lewisham.

LGBT history

Alan Wakeman was born in Catford in 1936.

Rose Robertson ran Parents Enquiry from her home in Catford for many years.

Integroup was founded in Catford in 1970.

Maxwell Confait was murdered at 27 Doggett Road, Catford in April 1972.

The South London Gay Young People's Group was founded in August 1981 and based at 17 Brownhill Road [Catford] [1].

Lewisham Friend have run a gay and lesbian helpline based in Catford.[2]

In 2012 there was an event for IDAHO at Catford Civic Centre[3]
