The European Parliament is the legislative element within the European Community, meeting in Strasbourg and Brussels. It was founded in 1952, and its members have been directly elected since 1979. There are 766 members, of which 73 represent the United Kingdom.

Elections to the European Parliament were held on 22 May 2014, and the results were announced on Sunday 25 May.
