Darlington is a borough and unitary authority within the ceremonial county of County Durham. The borough includes the town of Darlington and the surrounding area. The Stockton and Darlington Railway was opened in 1825, and the town has had a long association with railways.
LGBT history
Sir Edmund Backhouse was born in Darlington in 1873.
There was a Darlington CHE group in the 1970s.
Gay Advice Darlington/Durham (GADD) is a volunteer service, run and staffed by trained volunteers and professional staff.
Darlington Gay Pride takes place in August, and started in 2007.[1]
