The Admiral Duncan

The Admiral Duncan is a gay pub in Old Compton Street, Soho.

On 30 April 1999 a nail bomb went off in the pub, killing three people and injuring about 70. The bomb had been planted by David Copeland, a right-wing extremist who had previously attacked pubs used by the black and Asian communities. He was convicted of murder and given six concurrent life sentences.

The aftermath of the bombing became a turning-point for relations between the LGBT community and the Metropolitan Police.
