Aberdeenshire is a council area in north-east Scotland, formerly within the Grampian region. Its boundaries differ from the historic county of Aberdeenshire, for instance it no longer includes the city of Aberdeen itself.

LGBT history

Craigiever Castle was the ancestral home of Sir Ewan Forbes.

The murderer Dennis Nilsen was born and bought up in Fraserburgh.
