Middlesex is a former county in south-east England, forming broadly the north-west quadrant of what is now Greater London. Part of Middlesex was absorbed into the County of London in 1889; most of the remainder became part of Greater London in 1965, small parts being absorbed into Berkshire, Surrey, and Hertfordshire.
