The National Federation of Homophile Organisations was set up in October 1971. By the summer of 1973 there were 20 UK organisations affiliated to NFHO. The Federation was chaired by Antony Grey and General Secretary was Marjorie Bryanton.

In July 1973 two key organisations left NFHO: Campaign for Homosexual Equality and the Scottish Minorities Group [1].
