The '''The Marriage of Same Sex Couples (Conversion of Civil Partnership) Regulations 2014''' were introduced by the Government in accordance with the [[Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013]] and permit a couple in a civil partnership to convert it to a marriage. The regulations apply to [[England and Wales]] only. Conversion is a simple process, normally conducted in a register office. Following conversion, the couple are regarded as having been married on the date of the original civil partnership.
