==LGBT history==
Robin Warren, a photographer, aged 42, of Maidenhead, was murdered outside a public lavatory in 1980. Six youths were charged. They had gone queer bashing. The cause of death was a severe cut and blood loss by a broken bottle. It was a savage attack.
In January 1981 at Reading Crown Court four of the six were convicted of the killing:  two of murder and two of manslaughter. A fifth youth was convicted of assault.

The activist and former politician [[Robert Hayward]] went to school in Maidenhead.
