Hackney Marshes, showing football pitches
Hackney Marshes is an open space in the London Borough of Hackney. It adjoins the river Lea, and was originally actual marshland before a number of channels or "cuts" were made to drain it. There are a large number of football pitches, used for Sunday League football. Part of the area was taken for the London 2012 Olympics.
