The European Parliament is the legislative element within the European Union, meeting in Strasbourg and Brussels. It was founded in 1952, and its members have been directly elected since 1979.

The LGBT Intergroup is a group of MEPs with an interest in LGBT rights.

2014 election

Elections to the European Parliament were held on 22 May 2014, and the results were announced on Sunday 25 May. Members retiring at this election included Michael Cashman. Members who lost their seats included Nikki Sinclaire. New members elected included Seb Dance and David Coburn
