He studied at the [[BRIT School]] in [[Croydon]].

Dan is openly gay, and won two [[Stonewall Awards]]: Entertainer of the Year in 2007 and Entertainer of the Decade in 2015. He has featured on the cover of ''[[Attitude]]'' magazine in 2008.
