The Anglican Communion is the world-wide body of Anglican churches, in communion with the Church of England. It is the third largest Christian communion in the world, after the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Archbishop of Canterbury is recognised as first among equals of the bishops of the Anglican Communion.
The Communion includes 38 provinces worldwide, those in the UK and Ireland being:
- the Province of Canterbury
- the province of York
- the Scottish Episcopal Church
- the Church in Wales
- the province of Armagh
- the Province of Dublin
