Arthur Jeffress in teh 1920s
Arthur Jeffress(1905-1961) was an art collector. He lived just outside Winchester in the mid 1930s with John Deakin, later Francis Bacon's favourite photographer [1].

Jeffress opened a gallery in London and bought a house in Venice. On his suicide in 1961 he bequeathed his collection to Southampton City Art Gallery and the Tate Gallery. A biography of Jeffress by Gill Hedley will be published by Bloomsbury in spring 2020 [2]. From 3 April 2020 to 5 September 2020 "A complete portrait of Arthur Jeffress" was to be on show at the Southampton City art Gallery [3]..
