Llangollen is a town in Denbighshire, North Wales, on the River Dee. It was historically a stop for stage coaches on the route between Holyhead (the main port for Ireland) and London. It is noted for the International Eisteddfod, a music festival held every July since 1947.
LGBT history
The Ladies of Llangollen made their home there together in 1780, having eloped from their families in Ireland. Their house, Plas Newydd, on the outskirts of the town, is now open to the public.
The GMFA Guide lists gay friendly nights at the Ponsonby Arms, Mill Street.[1]
