Queer Youth London and South East (QYLSE) is a youth-led regional group that is part of the Queer Youth Network, a national organisation by by and for LGBTQ Young People.

The Queer Youth Network is a national youth-focused organIsation that supports the overall well-being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Transsexual, Intersex, Questioning, Curious, Asexual, Pansexual or Queer and/or people who are potentially socially marginalised as a result of their identity, as well as those who advocate on their behalf by:

  • Creating effective opportunities for our voices to be heard.
  • Advocating safe, inclusive, peer-led, queer-positive spaces.
  • Developing innovative projects, initiatives and resources.

QYLSE's region covers the South East of England including the London area. Between Reading in the west to Ramsgate on the east coast, from Bedford in the north to Brighton in the south.

History

QYLSE was founded by a collection of local gay youth groups that came together to form a regional network supporting the needs of local LGBT young people. Queer Youth London and South East was originally two local groups - Queer Youth Sussex (which met in Brighton) and Queer Youth London which merged to form one big super-regional group.

They meet once a month in London and are gradually expanding to ensure several meets a year in Hertfordshire as of 2011.
