Pav Akhtar is a Labour councillor in Lambeth.
In 2007 he was listed number 50 in the Pink News lists of 50 most powerful 2007. The citation said:
- "He came within 28 votes of becoming President of the National Union of Students, but Pav Akhtar claimed a potent mix of Islamophobia and homophobia denied him victory. The first non-white President of the Cambridge University Students Union, Pav worked as a journalist for the Daily Telegraph and is now employed by UNISON, the trade union."[1]
