Humanism, in current usage, means an approach to life based on human values, without belief in a god or in life after death.

In Scotland, but not yet in teh rest of the United Kingdom, Humanist weddings can be celebrated.

LGBT history

Mary Whitehouse, in 1977, complained of the "humanist gay lobby". Such a lobby did not exist at the time, but her remarks led to the formation of the Gay Humanist Group, now the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA).
