Chris Smith, Baron Smith of Finsbury (born 1951) is a British politician. He was Labour MP for Islington South and Finsbury from 1983 to 2005, and Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from 1997 to 2001. He was created a life peer on standing down from parliament in 2005, and now sits as a cross-bencher. In 2008 he became Chair of the Environment Agency.
In 1984 Chris Smith became the first MP to come out as gay. In 2005 he revealed that he is HIV positive.
Lord Smith is an Honorary Vice-President of CHE.
He was ranked number 3 in the Pride Power List 2011
