Waheed Alli, Baron Alli (born 1964) is a businessman and Labour politician. His parents are both from the West Indies, but of Asian hertiage: his father is Muslim, from Guyana, and his mother Hindu, from Trinidad. Alli himself is Muslim. He has two brothers, one Muslim and one Hindu.
From huble beginnings, he workd in the media, investment banking, and television. Alli and Charlie Parsons are business partners as well as life partners.
