The University of Winchester was founded in 1840 as the Winchester Diocesan Training School to train teachers. It was renamed King Alfred's College in 1928, and became a university in 2005. Its main campus is near the centre of Winchester.LGBT history
In February 2015 the university organised an LGBT symposium as part of LGBT History Month, on the eve of the inaugural Hampshire Pride parade.[1]
OneBodyOneFaith's Norman Pittenger library is housed at the university.
Alumni and staff
Elizabeth Stuart, who specialises in Queer Theology, is Professor of Christian Theology.
