Atherton Parish Church
Atherton is a former coal mining town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, in Greater Manchester, and historically in Lancashire.

LGBT history

Allan Horsfall lived there in the 1960s, and used his home address (a Coal Board cottage) on leaflets publicising the North Western Homosexual Law Reform Committee.[1]
