Taunton is the county town of Somerset and the main town within the Taunton Deane district.

LGBT history

The Outset Festival is an LGBT arts festival based in Taunton.[1]

The Somerset Lesbian Network meet in Taunton.[2]

Taunton Pride was held for the first time in August 2011.[3]

The 2BU group for young LGB people, now based in Taunton, began in 2003 as a youth group for gay lads in Wells.[4]

In February 2012 a Christian preacher, Michael Overd, was cleared of verbally abusing two gay men during a sermon.[5]
