Sussex is an historic county in south-east England, roughly corresponding to the ancient kingdom of the same name. It is divided into three administrative areas: the counties of East Sussex and West Sussex, and the city of Brighton and Hove (which is included with East Sussex for ceremonial purposes).There is a single police force, Sussex Police, for the whole of the historic county of Sussex.[1] Sussex Police were the first UK police force to advertise in the gay press. In May 1995 they placed an advert in the Pink Paper [2].
There was a Sussex Gay Liberation Front in the early 1970s.
The University of Sussex is located in Falmer, near Brighton.
