Jake Daniels, footballer, born 2005, plays for the Blackpool youth team. In May 2022 Daniels become the UK’s first professional male football player to come out as gay since Justin Fashanu in 1990.
In an article in the Guardian Daniels, 17, admitted to having hidden his sexual identity as a young man “because I wanted to be a professional footballer”. Now he says the “time is right to be myself, be free and be confident with it all” [1].
