Renée Vivien, born Pauline Mary Tarn (1877–1909) was a British poet who wrote in French.[1]Born in London, she grew up in Paris and London, but moved to Paris and changed her name to Renée Vivien on inheriting a substantial fortune from her father. She had a long-term relationship with Natalie Barney, an American heiress known for her flamboyant lesbian lifestyle. Her poetry was much influenced by that of the ancient Greek woman poet Sappho.
