North Yorkshire Police covers the county council area plus the City of York; however Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, and Stockton-on-Tees (which had all been part of the county of Cleveland since 1974) are covered by Cleveland Police.
LGBT history
The South Durham / North Yorkshire CHE Group was founded in 1972.
The first National Young Lesbian Summer Camp was held in Ingleton in 1984.
