Sheffield Hallam University is a university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It grew as a merger of several institutions founded from 1843 and was known at one time as Sheffield Polytechnic. It achieved university status in 1992.Sheffield Hallam is a Stonewall Diversity Champion and one of only six universities to achieve 10 out of 10 in Stonewall's Gay by Degree Guide 2015 which rates gay friendly universities in the UK.[1]
