Sheffield Hallam University is a university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It grew as a merger of several institutions founded from 1843 and was known at one time as Sheffield Polytechnic. It achieved university status in 1992.Sheffield Hallam is a Stonewall Diversity Champion and we are one of only six universities to achieve 10 out of 10 in Stonewall's Gay by Degree Guide 2015 which rates gay friendly universities in the UK.[1]
