Cher (real name Cherilyn Sarkisian, born 1946) is an American singer and actress. She was half of the duo Sonny and Cher with her husband Sonny Bono (1935–1998) until they split up in 1975, since when she has had a solo career.Sonny and Cher's daughter Chastity Bono (born 1969) became Chaz Bono in 2010 following gender reassignment.
Cher was listed under "Friends to LGBT people" in the Independent on Sunday's Pink List 2013. The citation said:
