[[File:Welsh National Assembly Senedd.jpg|thumb|The Senedd]]The '''National Assembly for Wales''' (Welsh: ''Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru'')  was created by the Government of Wales Act 1998, which followed a referendum so that the Assembly can legislate in certain devolved areas without having to consult the UK parliament or the Secretary of State for Wales. It meets in the ''Senedd'' (Senate) building in [[Cardiff]] Bay.
