Meetings of London LGBT organisations
Meetings of London LGBT organisations are periodic stakeholder meetings between the Mayor of London's office and representatives of LGBT organisations across the capital.
History
The meetings were established following the appointment of Richard Barnes as statutory Deputy Mayor of London on 6 May 2008 under Mayor Boris Johnson. Barnes, the first LGBT Deputy Mayor of London, chaired the meetings — held twice a year — bringing together representatives from a wide range of London's LGBT organisations to discuss policy, health, equality, education, and community safety.
Under Mayor Sadiq Khan (elected 2016), the meetings continued as part of the Mayor's LGBT engagement programme and are documented on the Greater London Authority website, which publishes agendas, minutes, and papers.[1]
Format
The meetings are an invitation-based forum, bringing together representatives from a range of LGBT organisations to engage directly with the Mayor's office. Topics covered have included hate crime, health inequalities, trans community issues, education, and police engagement.
