Lesbian and Gay Employment Rights
Lesbian and Gay Employment Rights (LAGER) was a charity working to advise and represent people who felt they were being discriminated against at work on the grounds of their sexuality.
LAGER was funded by the Association of London Government, but the organisation closed after the funding ceased in 2004.
- "In December 2003, the Government introduced new legislation to outlaw discrimination in the workplace on the basis of sexual orientation. This was widely welcomed by MPs, employers and trade unions alike, as being appropriate for a 21st Century Britain. However, access to justice under the new law remains a distant hope for many as the only organisation which specialises in this area has had its funding cut and will be forced to close down unless a guaranteed £10,000 a month is secured."[1]
