Enid Barraud

Enid Barraud (1904-1972) moved to rural Cambridgeshire in 1939, lived in Little Eversden and joined the Women's Land Army. in her memoir, Set My Hand Upon the Plough [1], first published in 1946, Enid writes with remarkable candour and honesty about life on the farm, and relationships with the farm workers. Barraud was known to co-workers as John, and lived with a female partner. Her war time diaries were recorded as part of Mass Observation.
