The Cave of the Golden Calf was possibly the first “gay bar” in teh modern sense of the term. It was opened in Heddon Street, off Regent Street, by Madame Strindberg before World War I. Gay performance artist Ryan Styles uses its name as the title of one of his shows.[1]
