The University of Winchester was founded in 1840 as the Winchester Diocesan Training School to train teachers. It was renamed King Alfred's College in 1928, and became a university in 2005. Its main campus is near the centre of Winchester.
LGBT history
In February 2015 the university organised an LGBT symposium as part of LGBT History Month.[1]
OneBodyOneFaith's Norman Pittenger library is housed at the university.
Alumni and staff
Elizabeth Stuart, who specialises in Queer Theology, is Professor of Christian Theology.
