Staffordshire is a county in the West Midlands region. The county council area includes eight districts, plus a unitary authority, Stoke-on-Trent. In 1972 much of the southern part of the historic county was lost with the formation of the West Midlands metropolitan county.

The area round Stoke-on-Trent, known as "the Potteries" was an important centre of ceramic manufacture.

LGBT History

Gay Staffordshire is described as "Your on-line resource for Staffordshire's gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender communities and visitors."[1]

The Older LGBT Persons Group meets in Hanley.

Staffordshire Buddies is the county's HIV and sexual health charity.
